Earlier this month, the American College of Radiology made the decision to cut staffing by 11% in the interest of strengthening its financial position.

The news was initially shared with attendees at ACR’s annual meeting, taking place April 13-17 in Washington.

A statement on the workforce reduction, attributed to Dr. William T. Thorwarth, CEO of the ACR, was shared with HCB News:

The ACR now employs approximately 510 people.

"The number of former employees impacted by the downsizing is 45. Additionally, approximately 18 positions will not be filled," an ACR spokesperson told HCB News. "The combination of these two groups resulted in the 11% reduction reported. Those unfilled positions may have contributed to the higher total figures quoted elsewhere."
